The Rolling Stones didn’t retire. They celebrated sixty years together in 2022 with an international tour. Critics praised 79 year old Mick Jagger for continuing to provide a high energy performance. They praised Keith Richards’s performance. Some critics commented on Ronnie Wood’s appearance, saying he looked weary due to his battle with cancer. Charlie Watts had a long battle with cancer and passed away 24 August 2021. Keith Richards stated that he heavily depended on Charlie Watts’s presence on drums. It’s fitting that Steve Jordan is sitting in Watts’s place, since Jordan has filled in for Watts beginning in 1985 with the Dirty Work recording and is the drummer for The X-Pensive Winos. The Rolling Stones have no plans to call it quits. If all official members are up for it, they’ll continue touring. If either Keith Richards or Mick Jagger passes, the one remaining founder will continue to keep the band going. Richards thinks the band will live on after he and Jagger are gone.
Tina Turner unfortunately succumbed to her health issues. She passed away 24 May 2023 at the age of 83. Many musicians paid tribute to Tina Turner, including Mick Jagger. Jagger posted on social media that his wonderful friend
was an enormously talented performer and singer
who helped
him out during his younger days.
I’m assuming Jagger is referencing Turner’s assistance in showing him dance moves and stage performance tips during their 1960s tours together.
