Thoughts about the John O’Keefe Murder Trials

Thought Number One

My first thought pertains to the Canton Massachusetts plow driver’s testimony during the two trials. The driver testified in court that he plowed Fairview Road the snowy morning Officer O’Keefe was found dead. He claimed that he did not see a body on the 34 Fairway Road lawn. The driver boasted that his truck was equipped with lights that allowed him to see the front yard. If plow drivers have lights that allow them to clearly see things on their side, why do we lose so many mailboxes during snowstorms? Something that should be asked at the civil trial.

Thought Number Two

I learned that someone can have a Fall River accent, albeit a weird one according to former Massachusetts Trooper Michael Proctor. Do people from Taunton and New Bedford have Fall River accents?

Thought Number Three: Getting Serious

Now I’m going to get serious. I understand it was a snowy night. I understand that heavy snow can muffle sound. I understand that it was late and many people in that neighborhood were probably asleep. However, I’m surprised neighbors didn’t see anyone, hear anything, nor record anything with either their cellphones or security cameras.

Thought Number Four

I heard about all the drinking that occurred the night of Officer OKeefe’s death. I must ask, why do we drink so much? Why do we have to be under the influence to have fun? To relieve stress? To handle grief and trauma? To get laid? To talk openly about ourselves? Alcohol is an addiction. If you find you need it to cope with life, to escape, please seek some help. Help yourself before you end up hurting yourself. Please help yourself before you hurt others. Don’t ruin another person’s life with your drinking.

If you see that someone has a problem, help them.

My Final Thought

I can only imagine the grief and anger the O’Keefe family currently has. My hope for them is that someone soon can provide information that brings closure. My thoughts are with you.
